Webinar 1: Smart solutions for forests

On September 19th, we launched the Forest 4.0 webinar series – a journey of ten online sessions exploring how digital technologies can transform forestry and help address the challenges our forests face today. The first webinar set the stage by looking at the big picture: what is Forest 4.0 and how can digitalisation help manage forests more sustainably and effectively than current approaches?

Webinar 2: Open Discussion on Forest Digitalisation

The discussion aimed to find out how forestry sector specialists see the future of digitization in forests, what challenges they face, and what solutions they expect in the near future. The discussion was attended by representatives of key forestry institutions and organizations, including the State Forest Service, the State Forest Enterprise, the Lithuanian Forest and Land Owners Association, the Lithuanian Research Center for Agriculture and Forestry, as well as representatives of Vytautas Magnus University and Forest 4.0 CoE.

Webinar 3: Wood Measurement and Digitalisation

During the webinar, we will explore how new technologies are transforming wood accounting. Experts presented modern wood measurement technologies and digital accounting solutions, explaining how the latest innovations help address measurement challenges, ensure accuracy, and optimise wood accounting. Key aspects of efficiency and data reliability were also discussed.

In this webinar, Professor Carsten Sørensen explores how digital technologies are reshaping existing business models across industries. Drawing on research-based insights, he reflects on how information-driven change has already transformed sectors such as music, film, telecommunications, and publishing — and how similar dynamics are now emerging in industries focused on physical goods, as products become increasingly intertwined with digital services. The seminar also addresses the growing regulatory and innovation challenges surrounding digital product passports and supply chain documentation. Throughout the discussion, Professor Sørensen highlights digital-first value creation, the roles of digital platforms and infrastructure, and how enterprises can navigate these changes to develop new, sustainable business models.
